HERE ARE MY REVIEW COMMENTS ON YOUR WRITTEN PLAN OREGON DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY Operator: Inland Timber Co. Landowner: Julie Mahoney Notification and Unit #: 2019-712-03698 Operation Name or Vicinity: Mahoney This information and advice is intended to assist you in complying with Oregon forest resource protection regulations. STATUTORY WRITTEN PLAN Regarding the attached Statutory Written Plan for Commercial Thinning/Selective Cutting activities described in notification 2019-712-03698 within 100’ of a Type F stream. Stream Stream Name: Chokecherry Creek Stream Classification: Small Type F Statutory Written Plan required by: ORS 527.670(3)(a) and OAR 629-605-0170(2) for an operation within 100 feet of a Type F or Type D stream. I have the following comments and recommendations. Fully implementing this written plan is likely to achieve the resource protection standards. This operation will be evaluated on the basis of how well required practices are applied and how well required resource protection is achieved. All operations will need to be conducted within the in-stream work period (June 15 – September 15) to minimize impact of operation on fish. I have the following comments and recommendations. • This document is incomplete because it does not include all of the elements required in a written plan by OAR 629-605-170(12) and (13). You need to submit a new or revised plan that describes the protected resources in your operation area and the methods you will use to protect those resources. The 14-day review period has not officially started. The elements you need to include in the written plan to make it complete are as follows. 1) Details regarding measures to make the crossings usable prior to hauling. 2) Details on resource protection during the operation. 3) Details on post operation rehabilitation and repair to prevent damage to the stream and water quality. 1) Choke Cherry Creek is a Small Type F (fish-bearing) stream, no operations within 100' without a reviewed statutory written plan on file. 2) No conflict with other protected resources. 3) If this is a conversion to a land use not compatible with forest tree cover, a required Plan for Alternate Practice and plan approval is needed before harvesting. If you have questions contact Doug Thackery at 541-471-2856. 4) Request to waive 15-day waiting period is granted.
