    Compliance with Forest Practices Act rules for spotted owls is not in lieu of compliance with any federal requirements related to the federal Endangered Species Act. Federal law prohibits a person from taking northern spotted owls. Taking under the federal law may include significant alteration of owl habitat on any class of land ownership. ODF encourages landowners to consult with the USFWS with regards to compliance with the federal ESA.

    Hayes Branch Northern Spotted Owl activity center is greater than 1/4 mile from the operation area, a written plan is not required at this time.
